it was an unseasonably
warm day until a
fresh breeze
kissed me
cooled me
refreshed me
much like your love that
has sweetly penetrated
all barriers
natural or otherwise
melting the secret snow
around my heart
our love defies age as it
is not bound by time
since it has neither
age nor time
as parents we are charged
to show and teach
our children
how to live
how to give
how to serve
how to love
how to forgive
how to win
how to lose
and
how to die
looking back I feel that
I failed more than I
succeeded but
did the best
I could
before you know
it there is more
time behind
you than
ahead of
you
looking forward
seven down
and one
to go
the day was so full
made dinner cleaned up no time
to write except this
my lunchtime read was
set in eighteen ninety-nine
not a time for me
no matter what I
hoped for fantasy can’t take
me back or forward
words run through my head
so many words left unsaid
the past can’t talk back
